First off i would like to thank Hypertec for sending me out a this wonderful product i have been using this for over a week and i now feel like i am ready to talk about the product.

So to start off The Hypertec is an Encrypted USB which uses 256Bit AES hardware encryption and password enforcement to keep your data safe. The USB also comes with a safe erase function which removes all data if you fail to logon to the USB Flash Drive within 6 attempts. The good thing is that Hypertec offer a 5 Year Warranty on this product.Last but not least the usb is plug and play so you wont need to install any software so you don’t need any admin rights to use this product.

In the Box

Well the Hypertec comes in a standard plastic container (which is so damn hard to open lol) and it contains the following items:

The 256Bit AES Encrypted Flash Drive

A Neck strap

A USB Extension Cable

A Small booklet about the products

Price

Well i have to say i was pretty impressed with the price of this usb you can pick this product up for around £25 and you may find it cheaper if you look around. In my opinion this is a great bargain considering that some other Encrypted USB cost around 3x as much as this.

Design

Well this USB is very slim and you will hardly notice it in your pocket however is not the greatest to look at, it comes in a standard silver colour with the logo on the front of the usb. However that is one of the things i love about this product because it’s so much less likely to be stolen. Most people will think its just a standard usb however they will fail to realise this how some serious this product is. You can get a few different styles so you may want to check the Hypertec website.

Functionality / Robustness

Well to use the usb all you have to do is simply connect it to your pc and enter your password to unlock the data. i personally think its very easy to use and its very easy to set up. the instructions you receive in the box give all the help you need. One thing ive noticed is that it doesn’t ask you to re-enter your password after an hour etc so people can still access your files if you leave your pc alone.

Well to test this USB i first set it up and once that done, i added a number of files onto the usb and then asked my friend to try to use the USB, he soon figured that he needed a password and after 6 attempts a message had explaining all the data has been wiped from the usb.

To test the robustness of this product i decided to do a number of tests. My first test was to see if it survived a number of drops ranging from the wooden floor in my house to the concrete outside. i am pleased to say it survived this and only had a small amount of damage on the case. The next test was to see if it survived when trodden on. i am also pleased to say it survived this test however i did notice a small crack within the case(this is more to do with ones weight lol). Last but not least i checked to see if it survived in water, this test was a bit too much for the usb and it didn’t work however Hypertec do not claim that it will unbreakable or even waterproof. I just did to see if it could.

Conclusion

I think this is a very good usb and well if your on a tight budget you probably wont get one any better. it does have its flaw as mentioned above but for under £25 you really ask for much. Overall i give this product 7/10

Disadvantages
