iPhone Upgrade

Well it’s almost time for the iPhone 4 release and with 13 days left the competition has already started between phone providers. O2 have now announced that they will allow customers on an Existing iPhone 3GS contact to upgrade to the latest iPhone and they can do this by buying their remaining contract out for £20 per month. Just to let you know the normal 14-day “change of mind” guarantee does not apply with this offer. Now this hasn’t been officially stated but there’s a good chance that you will have to pay for the phone on top of the upgrade fee so you will be looking around the £200 mark. Things don’t look so peachy now do they?

Now most likely the upgrade will be expensive but you can use o2 recycle scheme and recycle your phone and get some money from o2. I have checked the prices for iPhone 3G 16 GB and you will recieve £170 and if you recycle the iPhone 3G S 16 GB you will receive £230. This will be enough to cover the upgrade however if you shop around you can get more. I would recommend CEX as you can get around £280 for a mint condition iPhone 3G S.

Well down to business and I know some people will be unhappy with the new tariffs but well here it is:

o2Tariff

As you can see data is capped at 500MB, you can get more but you will have to spend more than £40 per month. In my opinion this is very harsh and the least they could do is give us unlimited data however I have heard that even unlimited data only has 1GB fair policy usage. However you can buy Optional Bolt Ons package. I also think paying £25 – £30 (depending on the contract) for 100 minutes of talk time is absolutely madness. This is purely to rip people off and I think people should wait one or two months until the prices drop. One good thing is the fact you do get unlimited Texts. If anyone is wondering what the Simplicity is, it is the sim only package.

You can preorder the iphone from the 15th June from the o2 website. Watch this space as I will be adding the Orange Tariff, Vodafone Tariff and maybe the 3 Tariffs.
